STORYHIVE is providing grants of $12,000 each to produce locally reflective nonfiction podcasts accompanied by a video component. We’re seeking stories that capture the voice, personality and experiences of communities across Western Canada. Projects may be featured on TELUS platforms including TELUS Optik TV On Demand and STORYHIVE’s YouTube channel.

Program Dates

  • Applications open: Nov 5, 2024

  • Applications close: Dec 12, 2024 at 11:59 pm PT

  • Recipients announced: Apr 16, 2025

  • Production starts: May 26, 2025

Project Requirements

Each Project will consist of a minimum of 8 episodes. Each episode must be a minimum of 30 minutes, consisting of locally reflective video podcast content. All projects must have synchronized audio and video elements. We recommend at least a 2 camera setup.

  • Please sign up on STORYHIVE and create your STORYHIVE creator profile or simply login if you already have an account.

  • Please review the application to determine all of the materials you will need to submit. NOTE - You do not need to submit everything at the same time (Click "Save application" to save your work as you go). We recommend that you start your application early and submit it at least 24 hours before the deadline to avoid last minute snags. If your completed application is not submitted by the deadline, it will not be eligible for funding.
